Absolutely! Facebook turned 5 this week so in web terms it's ancient now and Twitter is the new kid on the block. I predict a video version of Twitter to take over and there already are some contenders to this. It's all good fun :)

I think the deal here is such ...

In most of the jobs I have worked, the employer hires a number of staff to cater for the handling of customers. This number is on par with or pushing limits of how many customer requests are handled in a certain time-frame. So, when push comes to shove, the staff are stressed & over-worked.

In your car sales-person scenario. If say there is only 1 person present & 2 customers, it only makes sense that they prioritize the larger of the sales. If 7 customers come in, the goal changes .. all the staff-member is thinking is how to lose them all.

If you've been bored with no people, you're actually happy to see one customer. It does make sense.

@Ritesh - yes in the West too it's the coffee shops that have embraced this from a long while back like Starbucks. They allow you to sit and work from there provided I guess you're buying coffee regularly.

@Reetesh - Singapore is amazing. They've had free wifi in their airport for many many years and it just makes so much sense doesn't it?

I too agree completely! PSP with its inbuilt Wifi Support helped me a lot in my recent SG-KL trip, where every mall had free wifi(in SG, the whole country has free wifi for tourists!), also, Airports had 'free' wifi.

It was really helpful for me, as I was able to use google & its currency conversion options to get correct idea relating to US/India/SG prices.

I left that place wishing that India would one day become that good in infrastructure!

Quite a few places in Bombay have started free WiFi access. The barista at Phoenix Mills surely has it, but none of the cafe shops in Bandra have free WiFi.

Though I totally agree with ya - If we have free Wifi at Malls, shopping would be so much fun :P
