I’m not sure when it started exactly but lately I’ve realised that I hardly ever watch TV these days. And even when I do I seem to either watch only those programmes that I have recorded on Sky+ or just watch one of several music channels or one of the news channels.
It’s ironic in a way that we have so many channels to choose from and yet it’s so difficult to find anything worth watching. Has the quality of our TV programmes really gone downhill that much these days? Sometimes even programmes that I have recorded that I do fancy watching I end up not watching because they seem like they are purposely stringing a story out unecessarily so you get frustrated and bored. I recently started watching Lost for the first time – yes I know I am maybe the only person in the world that doesn’t watch it – and the only reason I started was that one of the actors was a college friend of my brother so I wanted to see her. Once her character had been killed off I quickly lost interest again and switched off.

Thank god for the internet is what I say. There are plenty of things and people that stimulate the mind with interesting information and the friends you can make from blogs and social networking sites means you get a lot of entertainment that you won’t find anywhere else. With lots of tv channels offering you the chance to watch programmes on the internet when will the traditional way we watch TV disappear I wonder?
